Stevenson's 2001 US Tour Diary (continued p.4)

THUR 9/20: CHICAGO - Fireside Bowl
Look forward to seeing the Art Institute again -CLOSED! Aquarium - CLOSED. After some of the worst Mexican food I have ever eaten we head to the Fireside bowl, our second bowling alley of tour. Hang out with my sister and brother-in-law who make it to the show. Oh, Kathleen, our biggest fan, shows up! Eek! Small, but decent gig. Later, We go to Elena's roommate's work (some weird live blues club) for some free beers and some of the best chicken wings I've ever eaten. It is about this point that I loose all ability to socialize and go hide in the van. (Oh yeah, earlier in the day this guy kept circling the block playing "Eye of the Tiger" jumaji shit!)
Klosoff and Miller in Chi Town (Vagina Building in Background)
TFRI 9/21: OMAHA - House Party
Ok, we get to this house it its this weird fraternity crowd with a small group of punks / weirdoes mixed in. Apprehensive, but the show (another in a basement) ends up being one of the best. Great crowd, great energy. Afterwards, we go to the market for some grub (including some pre-packaged deli fried chicken). Jason and I bust into the chicken in our van, and a vegan girl has a siezure.

Miller and Stevenson, Colorado Springs, CO
SAT 9/22: COLORADO SPRINGS CO - Industrial Nation
Apparently everyone is at slipknot or something, so it's a small crowd. Actually there are a lot of kids there at first to see this high school emo band. Small and stiff crowd watch us. Everyone at the club is super cool, however, and kick down pitchers, shots, automotive diagnosis and later a place to stay. Drive through Wyoming the next day. There is NOTHING in that state. We stop in a town, Branford(?), for gas that literally has a population of 2!
SUN 9/23: SALT LAKE CITY - Kilby Court
SLC, Sunday night. How do you think the show went? Anyway, we cross the state line into Nevada afterwards, and ironically stay at the State Line Hotel and Casino. Jason and I play Blackjack into the morning. We break even, drink several beers for free. I have a good time (perhaps unwisely) busting the balls of the very drunk guy next to me who, it tuns out, had just won some sort of boxing match the night before.
MON 9/24: RENO - Another Basement
Sitting at a blackjack table before the show, I almost wish we didn't have to play. Get to the show, however, and it's a great crowd. Some peeps from Oaktown drive up unexpectedly, including, yes, our "biggest fan", Kathleen. We have a great set and as an encore, we do the Screamers "122" for the last time ever (we hope!) It's a great gig to end the tour on. Later that night we go to the Sundowner Casino and Hotel, get pissed, lose $, punch each other and pass out.

Happy Limbs Head Home

TUE 9/25 -HOME!
We return home to find our empires in shambles and scramble to pick up the pieces. Still, it's damn good to be back in Oaktown.
